The Ideal Setting
Welcome to the Pacific Coast of Guatemala, right along the billfish “highway” of Central America!
Sailfishing off the coast of Guatemala is like nothing you’ve experienced before. Be it the Dorado or Dolphin, the Tuna or Wahoo and even Marlin in the 300 to 600 pound range, it is common to catch 15-25 sailfish and many more tuna and dorado daily!
Guatemala has the highest single day record of 124 sails released on tackle and 57 on fly. There isn’t another fishing spot on earth that even comes close to the number of billfish found on the Coast of Guatemala.
The science behind the fish-filled sea of Guatemala is that the mountainous offshore bottom structure interacting with the currents, sends oxygenated water to the surface. With the currents moving in from Mexico and Panama, meeting off the Coast of Guatemala, it creates the ideal environment to attract baitfish and thereafter, gamefish.
In addition to this, the calm conditions of the Guatemalan coast make it ideal for first time fly fisherman that want to catch billfish and families that want to be introduced to the sport. All in all, the sea conditions are smooth and very pleasurable for those who don’t like rough sea conditions.

Our Conservation Efforts
Guatemala as whole, does very well with conservation. Guatemala was the first country on Earth to establish laws that require the use of baited circle hooks in its offshore fishery. It established a strict law against killing billfish. Due to this, it is able to sustain a great rate of sailfish releases in the Pacific Ocean every year. At Uno Mas, we try very hard to contribute to our country’s efforts in the conservation of our nice billfish-filled seas.
We Care About the Ecosystem
Uno Mas Sportfishing is committed to being a good steward of the Guatemalan fishing waters. We believe that the health of the ecosystem is essential to sustaining a thriving fishery. That’s why we take care to use sustainable practices that protect the delicate balance of the marine environment. We also work hard to educate our customers about the importance of respecting the ecosystem. By working together, we can help ensure that the Guatemalan fishing waters remain healthy and productive for generations to come.
